Welcome to Eger Piano Studio

A student-focused, in-home studio on the SE side of Grand Rapids also offering Online Lessons

Each student is unique.

I believe music is created by God and given as a gift whereby we can reflect his beauty and creativity.   Learning to play the piano is an outlet for creative expression and stimulates connection in the brain like nothing else.  It lays the groundwork for success in life as each student learns the disciplines of listening, persevering, and responsibility.  It is also a means by which we can bless others as we share our music.  I believe anyone can learn to play the piano.  My goal is to provide a positive, encouraging environment where students can learn and grow in their music skills, at their individual pace and ability.

I teach beginners through early advanced.  Weekly lessons are 30 or 45 minutes, depending on age, level, and goals.  I like to use different visuals, games, and the iPad while building skills in note reading, rhythm, listening, theory, and technique.  Learning should be fun, and I want students to enjoy coming to lessons and then let that excitement spill over to making music at home.  I typically use a piano method series such as Piano Adventures, Piano Safari, or Succeeding at the Piano, and then transition to classical repertoire around the intermediate level.

I offer a studio recital each May, and other opportunities through the Piano Teachers Forum.

Lessons available include in-person as well as online.

Abby Eger

I’ve been playing the piano since 2nd grade.  It is one of the joys of my life, and my pleasure to share it with others.  I have 24 years of teaching experience, and am still learning and growing, both as a teacher and as a pianist.  My background includes a Bachelors degree in Piano Pedagogy as well as a Masters degree in Piano Performance.  I have experience in early childhood music and know the importance of singing, moving, exploring, and creating with my youngest students.  I am a mom of 5, which adds a parent perspective to my teaching.  My professional memberships include the Grand Rapids Piano Teachers Forum, Michigan Music Teachers Association, and Music Teachers National Association. My students are very important to me as we get to spend one-on-one time each week, working together toward a musically satisfying experience.
